CUMULUS Adult Hits KCJK (105.1 JACK FM)/KANSAS CITY's morning show with BRYAN TRUTA and NYCKI PACE interviewed 13-year-old SCRIPPS SPELLING BEE champion KAVYA SHIVASHAKNAR.

KAVYA hails from OLATHE, KS and correctly spelled "Laodicean" to secure the first place finish and $40,000 in prize money. KAVYA told JACK's BIG BREAKFAST, "I knew the word immediately. I kinda got emotional and had to try and stay calm and spell the word."

This was the fourth time KAYYA had participated in the national spelling bee. Her previous attempts at the championship yielded a tenth, eighth and fourth place finish.

On top of being on KCJK's morning show, she has been on CNN, MSNBC and the SportsCenter Show. She'll be jetting between L.A. and New York over the next few days. You can see her on Regis and Kelly Tuesday (6/2) and the Jimmy Kimmel show on Wednesday (6/3).
